Product Description

A week of Greek dinners, cooked in Greece and chilled rather than frozen.

These are six of the dishes Greek households cook most: moussaka, pastitsio, lahanodolmades, gemista, spanakorizo and fasolada. All six are produced and packed by Amvrosia SA in Sindos, outside Thessaloniki, sealed in a protective atmosphere and shipped chilled. None of the six is frozen at any point, and none carries preservatives. The trays keep because they are sealed and cold, and that is the whole mechanism.

Three of them are built on minced beef and pork of EU origin: moussaka and pastitsio under a milk béchamel, lahanodolmades in an egg and lemon sauce rather than a white one. The other three carry no meat, no milk and no egg at all, and they are the ladera of the range, cooked in olive oil rather than dressed with it. Across the six trays, that is 2,2kg of food, 91g of protein and 53g of fibre.

Why these six, and not six you would choose yourself

The point is not the selection; it is not having to make one. Six dinners settled in a single order, three with meat and three without, and no two evenings the same. The set alternates deliberately: béchamel one evening, lemon and herbs the next, beans the one after.

  • Moussaka 350g and Pastitsio 350g: minced beef and pork, half of each, under a milk béchamel
  • Lahanodolmades 400g: cabbage leaves, 47% of the tray, stuffed with rice and minced beef and pork in an egg and lemon sauce
  • Gemista 350g, Spanakorizo 350g and Fasolada 400g: rice, vegetables and pulses, with no meat, milk or egg in the recipe

All six heat the same way, which is the point of a mixed box

A box of six different dishes should not send you looking up a different instruction for each one. Remove the outer sleeve, pierce the film in two spots with a fork, then heat. Times vary slightly with the appliance.

  • Oven: 180°C in a preheated oven for 13 to 15 minutes
  • Microwave: 3 to 4 minutes at 800W
  • Remove the film before serving, and keep the tray clear of the oven element and the grill
  • Spanakorizo is the one exception worth knowing: it is ready to eat and loses nothing at room temperature

How six chilled trays arrive, and how long you actually have

All six travel together, chilled and never frozen. Refrigerate them below +7°C as soon as they arrive, and leave the film sealed until you heat each one, because the protective atmosphere inside the tray is what does the preserving. After that, you are not on a countdown: the trays typically hold one to two months from the day the order arrives, so there is no need to work through all six in the same week. They are prepared and packed separately, so the date printed on each tray is the figure that counts. Once a tray is open, eat it within 24 hours.

Perfect for:

  • Six weeknight dinners settled in one order
  • A household split between meat eaters and plant-based eaters
  • A stocked fridge without cooking from scratch
  • A Greek dinner in the time it takes to heat an oven

I ate moussaka in Greece many years ago and also in some restaurants here in Italy (we can also find it in some supermarkets, in refrigerators or freezers). This is very, very good...
Terribile G., verified review.

Six dinners, one delivery, and a Greek kitchen that has already done the work.

Nutritional Components

Six dishes in one order: what is actually in the trays

This box is a mixed one on purpose, and the nutritional profile is mixed with it. Three trays are built on minced beef and pork with a milk béchamel or an egg and lemon sauce; three carry no meat, no milk, and no egg at all and are cooked in olive oil rather than dressed with it. The figures below are taken from the six printed labels, dish by dish, per 100g and per full tray.

What the numbers mean across a week

  • 91,2g of protein across the six trays: from minced beef and pork in three dishes, and from beans, rice and vegetables in the other three.
  • 53,5g of fibre across the six trays: 18g of that is the fasolada alone, where boiled beans are half the tray.
  • The fasolada is the most nourishing tray of the six: 18,0g of fibre and 16,8g of plant protein in 400g for 420 kcal, all of it from the legume itself and nothing added.
  • The gemista is the least salty tray we sell: 0,61g of salt per 100g, less than half what the meat trays carry. In a category where salt is the standard objection, that is the one figure worth checking.
  • Two of the six carry no allergenic ingredients at all: gemista and spanakorizo. Traces are possible on all six, and they are listed dish by dish below.
  • No preservatives in any of the six: the trays keep because they are sealed in a protective atmosphere and chilled, not because anything was added to the recipes.

The six dishes, per 100g and per tray

  • Moussaka, 350g: aubergine, potato and minced beef and pork under a milk béchamel. 134 kcal, 5,5g protein, 1,8g fibre and 0,85g salt per 100g. Per tray: 469 kcal and 19,0g protein.
  • Pastitsio, 350g: 32% durum wheat pasta and minced beef and pork baked in a milk béchamel. 153 kcal, 7,1g protein, 1,5g fibre and 0,85g salt per 100g. Per tray: 536 kcal and 24,9g protein.
  • Lahanodolmades, 400g: cabbage leaves, 47% of the tray, stuffed with rice and minced beef and pork in an egg and lemon sauce. 84 kcal, 3,5g protein, 2,2g fibre and 1,10g salt per 100g. Per tray: 336 kcal and 14,0g protein.
  • Gemista, 350g: 56% boiled rice with tomato, pepper, aubergine and potato, bound by 6% extra virgin olive oil. No meat, milk or egg. 124 kcal, 2,0g protein, 2,3g fibre and 0,61g salt per 100g. Per tray: 434 kcal and 7,0g protein.
  • Spanakorizo, 350g: 75% spinach with 12% boiled rice, 5% extra virgin olive oil, dill and lemon. No meat, milk or egg. 92 kcal, 2,7g protein, 2,0g fibre and 0,83g salt per 100g. Per tray: 322 kcal and 9,5g protein.
  • Fasolada, 400g: 50% boiled white beans with carrot, onion and celery in a light tomato broth. No meat, milk or egg. 105 kcal, 4,2g protein, 4,5g fibre and 0,70g salt per 100g. Per tray: 420 kcal and 16,8g protein.

Across the six trays: 2,2kg of food, 2.517 kcal, 91,2g of protein and 53,5g of fibre. The totals are the sum of the six printed labels.

Ingredients: where the six lists are, and the one thing worth flagging

Each dish carries its own full label list on its own product page, and the tray in your hands is always the reference. One note is worth making here rather than leaving it to be found: the béchamel in the moussaka and the pastitsio is a prepared mix, and alongside milk proteins it contains modified starch, wheat flour, palm oil and dehydrated glucose syrup. The four dishes without béchamel carry none of it, and none of the six contains preservatives.

Allergens, dish by dish

Declared ingredients first, then traces. The two are not the same thing, and on a box of six they differ tray by tray.

  • Moussaka and Pastitsio contain milk, wheat (gluten) and egg. The béchamel mix contains wheat flour, so neither of these two is gluten-free.
  • Lahanodolmades contains wheat (gluten) and egg. There is no milk in the recipe.
  • Fasolada contains celery as a declared ingredient and not as a trace.
  • Gemista and Spanakorizo contain no allergenic ingredients in the recipe at all.

Traces, which differ by dish:

  • Moussaka and Pastitsio: peanuts and other nuts, sesame seeds, mustard, celery, soybeans, sulphites, lupin, fish, shrimps and crabs.
  • Lahanodolmades: milk, mustard, celery, soybeans, sesame seeds, fish, shrimps and crabs.
  • Gemista: milk, wheat, sesame seeds, mustard, egg, celery, soybeans, sulphites, fish, shrimps and crabs.
  • Spanakorizo: milk, wheat, sesame seeds, mustard, egg, celery, soybeans, fish, shrimps and crabs.
  • Fasolada: milk, wheat, sesame seeds, mustard, egg, soybeans, fish, shrimps and crabs.

Produced and packed by Amvrosia SA, Sindos Industrial Zone NB6, Thessaloniki. All figures are taken from the printed labels on the trays, which prevail over any other source.

Useful Information

Storage guide: six trays, one rule, below +7°C

These are fresh, chilled dishes, not ambient and not frozen, and everything about keeping them follows from that. They travel cold, they live in the fridge, and the sealed film is what protects each one until you open it. The six are prepared and packed separately, so they do not all share the same date.

How to store them correctly

  • On arrival: put all six into the fridge straight away, below +7°C, in the coldest part rather than the door.
  • Leave the film sealed: the protective atmosphere inside each tray is what does the preserving. Pierce the film only when you are about to heat that tray.
  • Do not freeze them: this is a chilled range, and freezing damages every dish in it, each in its own way.

Freshness timeline

  • Unopened, refrigerated: until the date printed on each tray. Typically one to two months are left from the day the order arrives, so there is no need to work through all six in the same week.
  • Once opened: eat within 24 hours, kept refrigerated.
  • Once heated: eat straight away. A reheated tray does not go back in the fridge for later.

Heating: identical for all six

  • Remove the outer cardboard sleeve, then pierce the sealing film in two spots with a fork.
  • Oven: 180°C in a preheated oven for 13 to 15 minutes. Time and temperature vary slightly with the oven.
  • Microwave: 3 to 4 minutes at 800W.
  • Remove the film and serve. The tray must not come into contact with the oven element or the grill.
  • The one exception: the spanakorizo is ready to eat and loses nothing at room temperature, so it can be served cold if that suits the evening better.

Product details

  • Format: 6 individually sealed trays, ready to heat, no assembly needed
  • Net weight: 2,2kg in total, four trays of 350g and two of 400g
  • Origin: made and packed in Greece, Sindos Industrial Zone NB6, Thessaloniki
  • Producer: Amvrosia SA
  • Storage: refrigerated, below +7°C, never frozen at any point
  • Made without: preservatives, in all six recipes
  • Allergens: milk, wheat (gluten), egg, and celery are present across the six, but not in the same dish. See the nutritional tab for the dish-by-dish breakdown.

Why six chilled trays rather than six frozen ones

Frozen is easier to ship and cheaper to hold, and it is what most of this category does. It is also what changes the food, and on a box of six it changes each dish differently: béchamel separates on thawing, an egg and lemon sauce breaks outright, beans split and go mealy, spinach gives up its water, pepper skin collapses and potato turns grainy. A chilled tray costs more to move across Europe and gives a shorter window. In exchange, all six arrive as they left the kitchen.

The trade is a shorter window, not a lesser dinner.

Traditional Lahanodolmades - 400g

VUOLE ESSERE UNA PASTA AL FORNO ITALIANA MA E' MIGLIORE LA NOSTRA

Traditional Moussaka - 350g

Way better than expected for a fridge isle product. Quality and freshness
