Product Description
PGI Lakonia olive oil from the Laconian hills
Laas PGI Lakonia is an extra virgin olive oil from the hills of Laconia, in the Peloponnese. It is made mostly from Athinolia olives, with Koroneiki. On the back of the tin, the producer calls it "our mountainous olive oil".
The PGI on the tin is the EU protected geographical indication for Laconia, printed with the EU PGI symbol and certified for this oil by Agrocert.
The name is on the label too: laas is the ancient Greek word for stone.
Use it raw: on bread, on boiled wild greens (Greek horta), on beans, over a tomato salad.
The same producer, Energaea, makes two more tins: Thalea, 100% Koroneiki from lowland groves, for everyday cooking, and Nostimon Hemar, which is PGI Lakonia and organic as well. You'll find all three in our Greek olive oil collection. To see what an extra virgin label should tell you, read how to recognise a genuine Greek extra virgin olive oil.
